Boosting Your Immune System Naturally
Boosting your Immune System Naturally
Given the current spread of the Coronavirus, I get many questions about boosting your immune system and whether doing so will have any effects on coronavirus transmission.
As a matter of fact, the only best way to prevent the virus is by limiting social interactions and washing your hands frequently.
• There is an increased risk of more severe outcomes of Coronavirus for those:
◦ aged 65 and over
◦ with compromised immune systems (e.g., chemotherapy)
◦ with underlying medical conditions. (e.g., heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, cancer)
The individuals mentioned above should take more precautions. You also consider that boosting the immune system is not something that can happen overnight. But it’s always good to take precautions. Please note that at this point, there is NO EVIDENCE to suggest that boosting the immune system will have any effects on coronavirus treatment. We don’t even know if boosting your immune system can in any way help prevent you from catching the virus, as most of us usually have a well-functioning immune system. Still, it’s always a good idea to boost your immune function.
Some of the most common questions I hear about immunity are as follows;
• What are some of the Immune system booster vitamins?
• What are some superfoods for the immune system?
• What weakens the immune system?
• How to increase immunity home remedies?
• Does vitamin c boost your immune system?
• What weakens the immune system?
In this article, I will try to address some of these questions. But, first, you need to find out if you have a weak immune system. Answer the following questions to find out.
When your immune system is weak, foreign invaders like viruses and cancer cells have a better chance of surviving in your body. Answer the following questions to see how your immune system is functioning.
• I don’t get enough sleep
• Currently having an acute infection (e.g., cold, flu, ear infection)
• I exercise excessively
• Frequently getting acute infections (e.g., cold, flu, ear infection)
• I eat foods I am allergic to
• Having a persistent infection (e.g., candida, parasite, athletes’ foot, cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, herpes, warts)
• I have cancer, or you are at risk of cancer
• My wounds heal slowly
• I eat a lot of sugar
• Experiencing excessive stress
• I am overweight
• Experiencing unexplained fatigue
• I exercise excessively
• Had a recent accident or surgery
• I take aspirin or acetaminophen
• Currently, I am on cortisone or chemotherapy
• I have taken many antibiotics
• Frequently exposed to people who are sick
• In the past, I have been exposed to mercury (in dental amalgams, contaminated fish), lead (in old paint, copper water pipes), cadmium (in cigarette smoke), and arsenic
• Currently, I am exposed to pesticides (in non-organic foods, on our lawns and houses)
• I am exposed to organic solvents (paint thinners, petroleum distillates, carpet cleaners)
• I have silicone implants
If you answered yes to many of the questions above, you have a weak immune system.
Boosting your immune system naturally:
As mentioned before, there is no research on Coranavirus as of yet. The following simply include tips to increase the immunity power in the body naturally:
• Increase your intake of foods that contain nutrients that are used by the immune system (e.g., start using immune system supplements to boost the immune system: such as vitamins A, E, C, and B, selenium, zinc, lean protein, and essential fatty acids)
• Avoid foods you are allergic to, such as wheat, dairy, and corn
• Avoid foods that weaken the immune system. Examples include coffee, refined carbohydrates, and sugar. These are acid-forming, further creating an environment in the body that’s favorable for fungi, bacteria, viruses, and cancer cells to grow in
• Drink 2-3 L of fluids daily (includes water, herbal teas)
• Use drinks to boost the immune system: ginger tea with garlic is a great immune system booster food
• Avoid exposure to heavy metals, pesticides, and organic solvents
• Reduce your stress – it can decrease your immune function
• Get a good amount of sleep
Please note that as of today, there is no evidence suggesting that boosting immunity helps you with Coronavirus (Covid-19). However, we can work closely to provide an individualized prevention plan to boost your immune system for overall health.
